The main motivating question behind this innovation was, “how can we automate this artisanal process and make it more accessible to everyone?” The result? The UCC flannel drip machine.

How can we effectively craft an equally delicious cup of coffee without an open flame? This challenge unleashed the innovative Light Siphon. This coffee siphon replaces alcohol lamps and fuel with a high-emitting halogen bulb that provides stable heat, unique illumination and a one-of-a-kind performance.

Using a specialised ‘twist shower nozzle’ mechanism, this apparatus achieves an even hand drip with a drip pot and a narrow spout. This creative style allows the user to carefully control the timing with which hot water is added and manipulate the steam function to keep the coffee grounds hot during the dripping process.

1969 was the year we succeeded in developing the world's first canned coffee beverage in the ready-to-drink coffee market. By 1970, we completed the first fully-automated Japanese plant dedicated to delivering ground coffee using vacuum packing.
